Dear Friends,African Voices has a fine selection of programs scheduled for the fall in honor of our 20th Anniversary. I want to give you a chance to support one of our celebrations and get a pair of tickets for The Sensational Josephine Baker, a wonderful play at The Beckett Theatre. The first ten people to make a contribution to our fundraising campaign will get the tickets! There are also other gifts to thank you for donating. In December, African Voices is hosting “From Cover to Cover: 20 Years of African Voices,” an exhibition showcasing the talented artists whose works have graced our front and back covers for the past two decades. The exhibition will be held from December 8, 2012 to Jan. 19, 2013 at the historic Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem. Danny Simmons, the founder of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, is curating the exhibition.
I know this is probably the fifth or fourth request you are receiving from a non-profit organization for a contribution – I have received several myself. I understand you cannot support everything but hope you will consider our unwavering dedication to the community a worthy cause.
It’s challenging times such as these when we need your voice and leadership to continue our good work.
Thanks for your support and I hope to see you soon!
