Help African Voices Celebrate 20 Years (video)

African Voices, one of the few national literary magazines to dedicated to publishing African-American literature and art……will have a legacy exhibition “From Cover to Cover: 20 Years of African Voices,” at the historic Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem from Dec. 8, 2012 to January 19, 2013.

“From Cover to Cover: 20 Years of African Voices” celebrates the wealth and diverse artistic styles of contemporary African-American artists that have been published on the magazine’s front and back covers for the past two decades. The exhibition will showcase the work of 20 to 25 artists and is being curated by Danny Simmons, the founder of Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

African Voices Communications, Inc. is a premier non-profit arts organization that presents artistic programming ranging from art exhibitions, literary readings, creative writing workshops to Reel Sisters, a film festival devoted presenting opportunities for women of color in the film industry.

The project will support the art exhibition and help pay for one of four 20th anniversary issues.
