Ex-A$AP designer Dominic Lord has posted a new preview online, as his upcoming EP ‘Fashion Show’ launches. If 2012 holds on prevailing musical pattern, it’s the creative resurgence flowing through hip hop.
Part of a new generation of rappers accepting fresh ideas, precocious Harlem talent Dominic Lord is set to join the party. Lord is running his own record label—Dominic Lord Recordings, just finished wrapping up a three-month recording stint in Miami, and is now overseeing the first releases of his burgeoning music career.
New EP ‘Fashion Show’ features beats from Chad Hugo, Hudson Mohawke, Rico Beats and Madd Matt while Dominic Lord takes control of production on one track by himself.
Adding a sense of modern electronics to the hip hop template, the results are pretty special. Bracing, stomping rap music for the 21st century, Dominic Lord infuses ‘Fashion Show’ with a rare swagger.
Preview cut ‘Pierce’ video is posted below. Featuring production from Hudson Mohawke and a Grimes sample, Dominic Lord storms through the verses before making way for a guest appearance from Pusha T. Musically, “Pierce” brings together the braggadocios and the emotive, supported by spaced-out synths, distorted vocals, and banging kick drums
Here’s the video ‘Pierce’ shot by Aram Bedrossian:
