MORE INFO
In 2011-2012 the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) launched its new Musical Theatre Program with an extraordinary partnership with Disney Theatrical Group. Our students helped to workshop the first ever children’s adaptations of the landmark musical phenomenon: The Lion King. Due to the success of this initial phase of the project, HSA has been invited to be one of the first schools to produce a pilot production of The Lion King KIDS and The Lion King JR. Beginning in fall 2012 and culminating in a full student production in the spring of 2013, this phase will include the development of a curriculum that will explore African & Asian cultures and world performance traditions like storytelling, music, dance, mask making, and much more. Special guests involved with the Broadway production will be sharing their experiences with participants
