Harlem Prep School Kids’ “Vote for Somebody” (video)

After last night’s debate, you may still be wondering who to vote for. Well, a group of children from Harlem‘s Democracy Prep School have some advice for you, and they put their encouragement in the form of a song. In their video, “Vote for Somebody!,” uploaded to YouTube by the school, the children sing to the tune of Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe.” The chorus of the song says, “Vote for Obama or Vote for Romney. It’s your civic duty. Vote for somebody.”

The fourth-graders may not be old enough to vote, but they make some valid points about why it is important. Commenters on YouTube are praising the young scholars for getting the word out, with one person calling them “awesome scholars” and another writing, “Love these kids.”

In 2008, a similar singing campaign of sixth- and seventh-graders from the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta became a huge hit. They jammed on ‘Vote However You Like‘ to the tune of T.I.’s ‘Whatever You Like.’

With the election only a few weeks away, the message behind these videos could not have come at a better time.
