Jeremy Pelt Forgets The Candles, Blows The Trumpet At Smoke

Forget the candles – jazz musician Jeremy Pelt is blowing the trumpet on his birthday! The acclaimed bandleader will celebrate his 36th birthday by playing gigs with his quintet at Smoke Jazz and Supper-Club Lounge on Friday, November 9th and Saturday, November 10th.

Smoke in South Harlem is the best venue in town to see the Jeremy Pelt Quintet in action! The speakeasy-style venue boasts red banquettes, curtains, low lighting and of course, great acoustics. There’s also an awesome dinner menu complete with dishes like Dark & Stormy Short Ribs — slow braised beef ribs marinated in Gosling’s ginger-beer marinade and chipotle peppers, and served with creamy cheddar cheese mashed potatoes and coffee-roasted baby carrots.

Pelt studied music at Berklee, toured the world and played with jazz luminaries like Jimmy Heath, Frank Wess, Charli Persip and Keter Betts. He and his band have been compared to the Miles Davis Quintet of the mid-’60′s.

Cover for the Jeremy Pelt Birthday Celebration is $30 and there will be sets at 8 pm, 10 pm and 11:30 pm on both Friday and Saturday.
