One of the first (Community Design Centers) CDCs was the Architects Renewal Committee of Harlem (ARCH) founded in 1964, whose director was Max Bond Jr., (who died in 2009) and fellow architect Kenneth Simmons. The group came together to fight against proposals for a new freeway in northern Manhattan, and later provided a range of services from design and technical support to training and information. Although some of its members were architects, others included a lawyer, editor and community organizers. They were associated with the Black Power movement and much of their work was concerned with the alleviation of poverty in the ghettos. ARCH was funded by grants and received contracts from various community organizations.

Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your content seem to be running off the screen in Chrome. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Many thanks
