Many Americans are tired of the partisan bickering taking place on Capitol Hill, where one side has a difficult time getting along with the other. A Kenyan woman Millicent Awuor isn’t going to have this problem with her kids, even though their names came from separate sides of the aisle. Millicent Awuor took the unique step of naming her twin sons “Barack” and “Mitt” after they were born on election day.
“I named the first twin Barack and the second one Mitt,” Mrs. Awuor told Reuters.
The 20-year old woman is married and lives in Slaya, near the relatives of President Barack Obama (who went to school at Columbia University in West Harlem). His half-brother lives there too, so the woman appears to have been inspired by political events all the way across the world. Barack’s father was born in Kenya, and even before he ran for president, his visit to Kenya received a hero’s welcome.
This wasn’t the only baby named Obama or Barack that was born on election day. There were others. But Millicent’s twins appear to be one of a kind.
