One Hundred Black Men Gives Turkey Dinners To Harlem Families

The meals, provided by Walmart, were bused in from upstate New York and given away from 10 different locations during the week.   Families received traditional Thanksgiving fare including turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, gravy, green beans, and dinner rolls.

The last of the meal distributions took place on Friday, November 16 at Manhattanville Houses where Fitzgerald Miller, President of One Hundred Black Men, Inc.; Paul Busby, Vice President and Regional General Manager of Walmart and One Hundred Black Men, Inc. Board Member; and other local community leaders gathered to reflect on a successful week of bringing holiday food and cheer to struggling New Yorkers.

“It is through Walmart’s generous support that this and other programs of the One Hundred Black Men, Inc. of New York City have been successful,” said Mr. Miller.

In addition to One Hundred Black Men’s hunger relief efforts, Walmart also sponsors its mentoring program which provides more than 1,400 young people with social, emotional and academic support.

One Hundred Black Men, Inc. of New York City worked in collaboration with the New York City Housing Authority, Staten Island Councilwoman Deborah Rose, Brooklyn’s Bridge Street Development Corporation, Queens’ Greater Allen Cathedral and Harlem’s Abyssinian Baptist Church on this program.
