Lenox Lounge To Close December 31st, 2012

Alvin Reed

It’s official, Mr. Alvin Reed owner of the historic Harlem jazz club Lenox Lounge at 288 Lenox Avenue (between 125th and 124th Street) will close his establishment on December 31st, 2012.

Lenox Lounge is an icon of historic Harlem, that has been serving up swinging jazz and soul-food classics for almost 70 years. All the greats played here—Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, John Coltrane—and the entertainment in the jungle-fabulous Zebra Room is still spot on, as is the mac and cheese. An art deco vibe permeates the place.
