These Girls Are Harlem Champs!
The Harlem Jets Football & Cheer teams competed at the American Youth Football & Cheer National Championship in Orlando, Florida on December 3-9, capturing the organization’s first-ever cheerleading National Championship title. The AYFC event is the nation’s largest football and cheer tournament.
“We are extremely proud of all our student athletes and excited to finally bring a cheer championship title home to Harlem. Our boys and girls are committed to success, both on the field and in the classroom, and their dedication is inspiring to everyone in the community. We continue to expect great achievements from the Harlem Jets,” said Jamel Wright, President of the Harlem Jets.
Two football teams, the Jr. Pee Wees and the Cadets, and three cheer squads, the JetSetters, the HighFlyers and the FlyGirls battled tough teams in regional competitions in order for a chance to compete for the national championship title. This is the 5th consecutive year that the Harlem Jets have qualified for nationals.
2012 AYC Football Results:
Jr. Pee Wees – 1st place East Region, 3rd place National
Cadets – 3rd place East Region, 3rd place National
2012 AYC Cheer Results:
JetSetters (ages 9-12) – 2nd place East Region, National Champions!
HighFlyers (ages 13-17) –1st place East Region, 2nd place National
FlyGirls (ages 5-8)– 3rd place East Region, National participant
The Harlem Jets and the entire American Youth Football & Cheer National Championships will be broadcast on the NBC Sports network on 12/29 at 3:30pm.
