Amateur Night is a live show that takes place on the world famous Apollo Theater stage in Harlem, New York City every Wednesday night from March through November.*
The Apollo Theater is “Where Stars Are Born and Legends Are Made.” Do you have what it takes to be a part of this legacy of icons?
Below is a list of audition opportunities to perform as part of the Apollo’s Amateur Night at the Apollo in New York City.

Apollo Amateur Night: New York (Open Auditions)
Apollo Amateur Night Spring Auditions are open to singers, dancers, comedians, rappers, spoken word artists and musicians ages 5 and older. Amateur performances of all styles are welcome. Those chosen from the audition will have the chance to appear at the Apollo Amateur Night and perform on stage at the Apollo Theater in New York.
When: 10am – 6pm Saturday, March 9, 2013
Location: Apollo Theater – 253 West 125th Street, New York, NY 10027
- Auditions are open to anyone who does not have a contract with a major recording label, television or film studio.
- Each contestant will have up to 90 seconds to audition.
- There will not be a band on site. Singers may bring a CD or perform a cappella.
- Dancers should bring a CD for their performance.
- If bringing a CD for the audition, it cannot be in CD-RW format.
- All musicians should bring their own instruments.
- All auditions should be in good taste and with no profanity (including the “N” word)
- Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Children’s category age requirement: 5 to 15 years of age
- Only the first 300 acts will be seen.
Apollo Amateur Night: Atlanta (Student Auditions at Morehouse College)
Apollo Amateur Night Student Auditions are open to student singers, dancers, comedians, rappers, spoken word artists and musicians. Amateur performances of all styles are welcome to audition. Those chosen from the audition will have the chance to appear at the Apollo Amateur Night and perform on stage at the Apollo Theater in New York.
When: 10am – 6pm Friday, February 1, 2013
Location: Morehouse College – Ray Charles Performing Arts Center, 830 Westview Drive, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30314
- Auditions are open to anyone who does not have a contract with a major recording label, television or film studio.
- Each contestant will have up to 90 seconds to audition.
- There will not be a band on site. Singers may bring a CD or perform a cappella.
- Dancers should bring a CD for their performance.
- If bringing a CD for the audition, it cannot be in CD-RW format.

Amateur Night Atlanta Auditions are open to members of the general public who are singers, dancers, comedians, rappers, spoken word artists and musicians ages 5 and older. Amateur performances of all styles are welcome. Those chosen from the audition will have the chance to appear at the Apollo Amateur Night and perform on stage at the Apollo Theater in New York.

Location: Atlanta Civic Center – Boisfeuillet Joes Atlanta Civic Center, 395 Piedmont Avenue, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30308
- Auditions are open to anyone who does not have a contract with a major recording label, television or film studio.
- Each contestant will have up to 90 seconds to audition.
- There will not be a band on site. Singers may bring a CD or perform a cappella.
- Dancers should bring a CD for their performance.

Apollo Amateur Night Celebrates Broadway: New York (Open Auditions)
The Apollo Theater is seeking Broadway styled singers, dancers and tappers for a Broadway themed Amateur Night. Those chosen from the audition will have the chance to appear at the Apollo Amateur Night and perform on stage at the Apollo Theater in New York.
When: 12 noon – 6pm Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Location: Ripley-Grier Studios, 520 8th Ave FL16, New York, NY 10018-4177
- Must sing or dance to a song from a Broadway or Off-Broadway musical.
- Auditions are open to anyone who does not have a contract with a major recording label, television or film studio.
- Those chosen from the audition must be available to perform at Amateur Night live on the Apollo stage on March 20, 2013.
- Each contestant will have up to 90 seconds to audition.
- There will not be a band on site. Singers may bring a CD or perform a cappella.
- Dancers should bring a CD for their performance.
- If bringing a CD for the audition, it cannot be in CD-RW format.
- All musicians should bring their own instruments.
- All auditions should be in good taste and with no profanity (including the “N” word)

Amateur Night Online Auditions
When: Year Round
You can e-audition for Amateur Night at the Apollo 24 hours per day, 7 days per week & 365 days per year. Just send your contact information and a link to your YouTube or Vimeo (no other formats accepted) performances to us at: ApolloAmateurNightCasting@apollotheater.org

Prize Offerings
- There are cash prizes at the end of each evening’s Amateur Night competition.
- In the “Child Star of Tomorrow” category, the first place winner of the season finale will receive $2,000.
- During the season finale the first place winner receives a cash prize of $10,000.
*Amateur Night at the Apollo weekly performances are independent from the “Showtime at the Apollo” and “Live at the Apollo” taped events.
