The new Gap in transition on 125th Street and between Adam Clayton Powell and Frederick Douglass Blvds, on the south side of the street (next door to Mart 125), that takes over the spot once occupied by Lazarus for Kids at 264 West 125th Street.
We took the photo (above) right before they painted the word “Gap” in the stores branded blue large triangular in the photograph.

Here is some of the conversation online in Harlem and beyond:
The Harlem blog Harlemgirl said
Gap‘s khakis announced they are opening a Factory Store on 125th Street on February 8th.
The new store will open on the same block as Old Navy and is taking over the space previously occupied by Lazarus for Kids at 264 West 125th Street.
NYRacked mentioned:
The 53-year-old store underwent a $500,000 renovation in 1999, and according to one Yelper, was the best place to buy packs of Disney Princess Tiana panties. In addition to that, it also once boasted former Mayor Giuliani as a shopper.
Harlem Bespoke added that:
There is already a successful Old Navy on Harlem’s commercial corridor but the The Gap has not made its presence until now.
It will be interesting to see how these large corporations coming into Harlem will do economically and if there will be an effect on local business (mom and pops).
What do you think?
