Hello Harlemites,
The fall offered us deep rich and bold colors such as French roast a beautiful chocolate hue, Tangerine Tango.
With the most popular reddish shade of orange, Pink Flambé the gorgeous bright pink hue we’ve seen on lips, nails, and in apparel and accessory collections alike, and Olympian Blue to name a few. The fall 2012 color palette which gave us vibrant, powerful and exciting hues!
Winter ’13 has given us a lighter mix of shades including neutrals like ivory, grey, nude, and black. Designer collections have also made use of splashes of color which include rhapsody a soft lilac, rose smoke a soft baby pink, and dark chartreuse which replays the popular brighter chartreuse we saw woven into the S/S ‘ 12 collections.
2013 Color of Year
As we travel the streets of Harlem we see color everywhere! From the luscious colored tote bags in Pink Flambé, Neon orange and lime by Michael Kors to unique and fashion-forward outwear pieces such as the ever-popular motorcycle jacket by Tory Burch and the parkas by Calvin Klein . The “it” color of the year for 2013 is Emerald. Emerald has been heralded as the color of the year as it one of the more popular hues reminiscent of nature, life and for some immortality. We will see emerald interwoven into S/S ’13 collections within womenswear and menswear alike.
Spring/Summer will offer brighter, softer versions of our fall 2012 color palette. According to Pantone the leading color authority, we can expect to see hues such as Lemon zest a soft butter yellow, poppy red a bold red hue, emerald, nectarine a warm orange and popular favorites for the past two seasons such as lavender which debuts as African violet, Tender shots a soft chartreuse green and Grayed jade a soft baby blue.
The fall 2013 collections debuting a NY fashion week February 9 – 15, 2013 are set to present collections which not only make use of the above palettes, but also exciting prints, edgy, yet comfortable silhouettes, and a mix of lines and popular fabrics!
Look out Harlem…….we are definitely in store for a fashionable spring and summer!
My dearest fashionistas and Fashiongents ….until we meet again…remember Fashion is what YOU make it!
