Taste Of Atlanta: OrganiX Style!

Cocktails in Atlanta OrganiX Style1

By Michael Andre Adams

Back to back holidays from November through New Year’s Day are the reasons why I need to arrive early to every spin and yoga class I choose to take at the gym!

People like you and me are bombarding their way into a fitness center nearby in hopes of undoing all that’s been done. But like the song says, “It aint easy getting it right.”

Getting it right requires a combination of diet, exercise and a level of consciousness when it comes to intake. For me and many others that means going the fresh route and sometimes spending a little more at times for the organic option. I see it a long term investment that’s sure to pay off now and later–as in when I reach the age of my parents.

When it’s party time, I aint necessarily tryin’ to hear that–if you know what I mean. Sure, I get the whole “You deserve a break today thing,” and I do deserve a break–the one I took when I devoured that box of John Kelly chocolates, those butter Christmas cookies, Leslie’s “7-Up cake,” Stevie’s mac and cheese and more! But at my age, it’s definitely about good living and sharing the secrets thereor. Now, log on to Facebook and voila: OrganiX Lounge.

Located on Ponce de Leon Avenue, in the midtown section of Atlanta, Georgia, OrganiX Lounge–a new hot spot opened by some cool and smooth cat (as in a man on two) from Chicago, is taking the art of lounging to a whole new level.

Armed with an MBA and time spent in fashion and fitness, Je’ Wesley Day, the 6’5″ strapping lad and owner of OrganiX Lounge, who also happens to be featured in the January issue of Essence Magazine (as an eligible bachelor) is enlightening Atlantans on how to have your cocktail and drink it too!

The loft-like atmosphere at OrganiX is snazzy chic, less the bling: Soft enough to relax, bright enough to enlighten. The lighting pays compliments to every skin tone while still providing enough illumination to catch the sparkle in the eyes of someone clear across the room. Whether you’re in a pair of jeans with a mink draped around your shoulders on a 30-degree night, or just chilling on the way home from a yoga class, both the vibe and the service at OrganiX Lounge are quite warm and welcoming.

After watching the video where Wesley talks about a few of the amazing signature organic cocktails served at OrganiX Lounge (in addition to classic libations for the die-hard “I aint trying nothing organic individual), it’s only fair to talk food. Enter Chef Willie!

“We use a majority of fresh products in the creation of the food items,” explains executive chef, Willie Wright. “The mixologist practices the same philosophy in creating a vast majority of the drinks we serve. Pairing certain food items with certain cocktails is paramount to the level of service we’re in business to provide. Of course we never want the food to over power the drinks. Therefore there needs to be a nice balance between the two. So we are always experimenting in the pairing of different drinks and food. It’s not only important to what Je’ or I think, when it comes to food and drink items, but what the staff thinks as well. They’re sharing, as well as educating a great many of our customers when it comes to the OrganiX concept. The feedback continues to drive our ongoing menu development.”

Be sure and stop by on your next visit to Atlanta, or the next time you log into Facebook.
