by Omar Salam’s debut collection “Pivot .
SUKEINA revealed its FW ‘13 collection on the runway at the Helen Mills Event Space & Theater.
Omar Salam is a phenomenal womenswear designer who pushes the boundaries with sophisticated design, exquisite tailoring and high quality production. The Autumn Winter 2013 collection was specifically made for the powerful women who engage in business deals, political affairs, and exude confidence. He creates timeless garments with a strong and modern look and feel. Always passionate about pattern, form and shape and with a continued fascination for obscure beauty, the Pivot collection display structure, fluidity and freedom.
Taking these concepts, Omar designed full-bodied knit skirts and dresses with an intricate kite silhouette—the focus for this season’s collection. Long lines are repeated throughout and interpreted into wide-legged pants as well as pleated dresses created for simple delicate textures. The rich color palette of night (dark navy) and muddy taupe mixes well with white, black and grey neutrals. Harlem luxurious cashmere, merino wool and camel hair knits are married together with warm georgette, sculptured techno and heavy lurex, which feature a grating pattern and light brushes of gold.
Developing and advancing his designs and techniques each season, Omar Salam has refined the silhouettes for SUKEINA FW13 to offer a collection of soft and structured, wearable garments that drape and compliment the body. His vision for this season focuses on movement and structure rather than color, with Omar’s signature draping strongly identifiable throughout the collection.
SUKEINA’s covetable collection of dresses and separates includes cocktail dresses, showpiece jackets, an updated version of the Nanda coat and a statement, long gown; new for FW13 is a stunning range of handbags, which offer an access point into the collection.
