We’ve been posting Harlem Shake videos for a while now, but we love it when we have folks that are doing the real Harlem Shake dance.In this video Harlem natives Jaylene Clark, Kai Heath, and members of the dance crew, Tribe NYC are doing the real old school Harlem Shake in Harlem at the Heath Gallery on 120th Street on Friday, February 22nd, 2013.
Jaylene Clark, wrote us HW saying that Kai and her, “as Harlem natives and avid Harlem lovers, were angry and frustrated with the viral videos of people claiming to do the Harlem Shake, when in fact they are doing nothing close to the Harlem Shake. We voiced our disapproval in the NY Daily News. You may read the article here. We decided to create a video that would feature people actually doing the Harlem Shake because we want people, especially Harlemites, to take over this trend. We want to see more videos of people actually doing the real Harlem Shake and bringing one of our favorite dances back to the forefront. We haven’t stopped doing the Harlem Shake since the times of G-Dep and P. Diddy singing “Let’s Get It,” so we are thrilled at the idea of more people bringing back this dance native to our home of Harlem….as long as they are doing it correctly!”
