Police arrest a Manhattan man whose girlfriend’s body was found inside a 55 gallon drum.
Bismark Lithgow, 24, is charged with second degree murder.
On March 2, police answered a call of a foul odor at an apartment building on Seventh Avenue in West Harlem.
They discovered the body of Francis Alfonso Pellerano, 19, inside the container in her apartment, who had recently moved there from Providence.
Pellerano, was found last weekend but police released her name on Friday. Pellerano had studied at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf before moving to New York last fall to be closer to a boyfriend.
The Medical Examiner reports that she had been stabbed multiple times.
According to a law enforcement source, she had been planning on leaving Lithgow to move to the Dominican Republic.
The boyfriend is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
