2017 Adults In Toyland Casino Night Raises Funds For Children

NYU Langone Medical Center’s “Adults in Toyland Casino Night” raised $835,000 to support programs at the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders  and the Department of Pediatrics at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital of New York at NYU Langone.

Held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at The Plaza Hotel, MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff served as the night’s emcee.

The event, hosted by the Committee for the Hassenfeld Center and KiDS of NYU Langone, attracted 500 New York City professionals from finance, fashion, entertainment, and real estate, among other industries, who are committed to improving the lives of children being cared for and their families. At Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital, doctors treat children and adolescents with a wide range of health conditions at a variety of specialized centers, including the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. Children and families receive expert medical care and comprehensive support during each step of the Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital treatment journey.

A heartwarming and captivating video featuring pediatric patient Leah Carmody was played for guests, highlighting the importance of the unique programs supported by the Adults in Toyland Casino Night.

Co-chairs for “Adults in Toyland Casino Night” were Adi Beltzman, Susan Block Casdin, Melanie Clark, Michael Corbat, Grace and Jack Dayan, Kate Goodman, Kimberly Goodwin, Morgan Hertzan, Patti Kim, Kelly Kennedy Mack, Robert Perretta, Harlan Fabrikant Saroken, Valerie and Steven Stein and Michael Weaver. This year’s physician chair was William L. Carroll, MD, the Julie and Edward J. Minskoff Professor of Pediatrics, professor of pathology, and director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital.

In addition to the co-chairs in attendance, guests included Randi and Scott Alper, Carol Alt, Heather and Felix Baker, Lissy and Josh Bank, Caroline and Craig Barnett, Camren Bicondova, Ellen Block, Casey Box, Alex Casdin, John Ehrenkranz, Trudy Elbaum Gottesman and Bob Gottesman, Marjorie Harris, Erica and Michael Karsch, Shyamli and  Robert Milam, Gabriela Ravassa, Kimberly Kravis-Schulhof and Jonathan Schulhof, Jonathan Schulman and Lacey Tisch, Jill Sedley, Randi and Boaz Sidikaro, and Carla Solomon and Antonio Magliocco, Jr.

The festive annual event featured casino games, a buffet, cocktails, a DJ, and a silent auction of luxury items guests were invited to bid on, including a VIP set visit to the Golden Globe winning drama “The Affair,” four tickets to a New York Giants Football game including a pre-game tour of the field, a $5,000 custom design experience with London Jewelers to create a one-of-a-kind piece, and a vacation package to Miami to visit Art Basel Miami Beach 2017. Citi served for a fourth year as presenting sponsor of Adults in Toyland.

Since its inception in 1990, the Stephen D. Hassenfeld Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders has established itself as a national leader in outpatient treatment of childhood cancers and blood diseases. The Center is named in memory of Stephen D. Hassenfeld, the former chairman of Hasbro, Inc. and founder of the Hasbro Children’s Foundation.
