September 24, 2016

christian-scott-atunde-adjuahIn celebration of the launch of his Stretch Music Residency, Christian Scott a Tunde Adjuah returns to Harlem Stage to premiere two nights of new music highlighting music inspired by the rhythmic legacies of the African diaspora and the next chapter of his Stretch Music exploration: Stretch Music x TrapStretch Music.

The piece is a jazz rooted, genre blind musical form that attempts to “stretch” jazz’s rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass as many other musical forms, vernacular, thought processes and cultures as possible.

Join Harlem Stage as Adjuah draws on the sonic legacies and compositional through lines of artists ranging from Mannie Fresh, Three 6 Mafia and Outkast to Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Future, A$AP Ferg and more as he builds a bridge from the hypnotic low-end to liberation and freedom with some of music’s most daring musicians and improvisers.
