Marc Rasbury

Marc Rasbury is a true Renaissance man with a passion for photography particularly sports photojournalism. As a project manager for Safflyn, Inc., a green technology firm, he heads up the corporate newsletter in addition to his engineering responsibilities.

Being a former college basketball player and three sport high school athelte, he has combined his passions and has launched a new career as a sports photojournalist. In 2006, he started Rasbury Media Enterprises, a firm that specializes in sports and entertainment photojournalism.

For the past 20 years, he has covered such events as the NBA Finals, the World Series, the U.S.T.A-U.S. Open, Championship Boxing and the NFL.

He also photographed such musical icons as Patti LaBelle, George Clinton, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Chaka Khan, the Brothers Johnson, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Sean Combs, Biggie Smalls, Winton Marsalis, Beyonce, Mary J Blige, Phyllis Hyman, Erykah Badu, the Isley Brothers and Dizzy Gillespie just to name a few.

He has an extensive photography collection of major news events including the 1993 and 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, Nelson Mandela’s visit to New York City and the 2008 Presidential Campaign.

Presently, Mr. Rasbury is the Sports Editor of the New York Beacon and the Harlem Community News. He is also a regular contributor for a number of other publications including New York Sportscene, AroundHarlem.com, Father and Sons Magazine, New York Trend and now Harlem World Magazine.

Some of Mr. Rasbury’s other interest include cooking, travel and reading (especially about other cultures).

Mr. Rasbury volunteers as a math and science tutor and teaches photography to youth at several New York City not-for-profit agencies. He has also established and coached two AAU basketball teams in Harlem.

A native of Mt. Vernon, New York, he currently resides in Harlem. He is a graduate of Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, Massachusettes, the nation’s oldest prep school, and Atlanta’s famed Morehouse College. But most of all he is the proud father of seven year old, Ajani-Isiah.
