“You get from the world what you give to the world.”— Oprah Winfrey
Harlem World (Magazine) Cares was created by Harlem World Magazine founder and CEO, Daniel Tisdale in 2009, when he asked himself how can we make a difference in the lives of others? His answer was Harlem World Cares. Harlem World Cares goal is to inspire individuals to create opportunities through Education, Arts and Health that enable others to rise to their potential.
A selection of Harlem World Cares projects include:
Education: Harlem World Cares, to date, has worked on the Harlem AIDS Blanket with 5 organizations and over 600 students were educated on the infection rate of AIDS/HIV being 10 times the rate for women in Harlem. One example is Wadleigh High School, a primary school in Harlem, NY.
Arts: Harlem World Cares, has worked with artist Daniel Tisdale on the art collage project the Harlem AIDS Blanket with Teachers College at Columbia University, Project Stay, Harlem Arts Alliance, the Black Commission on AIDS and others creating over 600 patches with students were educated on the infection rate of AIDS/HIV being 10 times the rate for women in Harlem. The project started with Wadleigh High School, and plans to work with the other high schools in Harlem, NY.
Health: Harlem World Cares, to date, has worked on these three cancer stories by Calvin Martin with Relay For Life with the American Cancer Society, Collette Henry’s My Cancer: Only A Small Part of Her Life and Rodney L. Carrol’s Why I’ll Never Be The Same (who sadly lost his fight in 2011) in Harlem. Examples of great stories from men and women in Harlem, NY.
Harlem World Magazine invites you to join us in using your life to improve the lives of others. We encourage you to volunteer time by getting evolved in Harlem World Cares.
Harlem World (Magazine) Cares is the #1 site on the web and serves 2.5 million different people every year – with millions of page views.
Commerce is fine. Advertising is not evil. But that’s not why we do it. Not in Harlem World Cares.
Harlem World Cares is something special. It is like a library or a public park for Harlem content. It is like a temple for the mind. It is a place we can all go to think, to learn, to share our knowledge with others.
When I founded Harlem World Cares, yes, it is a for-profit company with advertising banners, but we’re different. We’ve worked hard over the years to keep it lean and tight. We fulfill our mission, and leave waste to others.
If everyone reading this donated $5, we would only have to fundraise for one day a year. But not everyone can or will donate. And that’s fine. Each year just enough people decide to give.
This year, please consider making a donation of $5, $20, $50 or whatever you can to protect and sustain Harlem World Cares. Se we can make a difference in the lives of others in Harlem.
Thanks,
Daniel Tisdale
