Join national childhood development experts and state policymakers at the Rockefeller Institute of Government on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 10:30 a.m. — noon for a panel discussion exploring how New York State can build systems to better serve the needs of young children.
The science of human development has often been at odds with traditional policymaking, instead of being used as a tool to craft effective policies and services focused on delivering better outcomes for young children. To bring about lasting, population-level change, we must foster a movement of collective change.
In this forum, leading experts and policymakers will discuss how the state can put the science of child development at the center of new models of investment and collaboration, across sectors and boundaries to deliver better results for New York’s children.
The forum will include:
- Jack Shonkoff, founding director of the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University;
- Jason Helgerson, director of New York State Medicaid;
- MaryEllen Elia, commissioner of the New York State Education Department; and
- Rahil Briggs, national director of ZERO TO THREE’s HealthySteps program
Rockefeller Institute President Jim Malatras will serve as moderator.
