Allergy Misery Has New Yorker’s Weeping From Harlem To Hollis

May 9, 2018

Patch reports that you might want to carry some tissues — high pollen counts from Harlem to Hollis, Queens will likely wreak havoc on springtime allergy sufferers through the rest of the work week. “Very high” pollen levels will hit the city Wednesday and stick around through Friday, according to The Weather Channel.

Pollen.com, a website that tracks pollen levels and their effect on allergies, puts Wednesday’s pollen levels at 10.1 on its 12-point scale, which accounts for how much pollen allergy sufferers will be exposed to. The count will dip to a 9.5 on Thursday before spiking at 10.9 on Friday.

Tree pollen is the prime culprit — the city’s top allergens for Wednesday are oak, birch and maple, according to Pollen.com. The Weather Channel predicts moderate grass pollen and no ragweed pollen for Wednesday.

The weekend will bring some relief — both Pollen.com and The Weather Channel show pollen counts dipping slightly on Saturday and Sunday.
