A subway slasher took off part of a straphanger’s ear in a fight on a Manhattan 6 train platform Thursday night, according to police and witnesses.
The gory attack on two riders by two men in their 20s began as a fight on the train that spilled onto the platform at Lexington Ave. and E. 110th St. in East Harlem at about 8:45 p.m., cops said. The attackers slashed a 35-year-old man in the face, and punched a 57-year-old man repeatedly in the ear.
Nick James, 22, said he saw the slashed man being treated in an ambulance.
“The earlobe was kind of hanging off, it was bleeding a lot, he looked dazed to me,” James said. “It was pretty disgusting — I never seen an earlobe hang off like that. It looked like he needed to go to the hospital.”
Another witness, Christopher Garden, 35, described the scene as a “little ruckus” and said the slasher was cursing at people after the attack. A group of commuters tried to prevent him from escaping.
“They were trying to stop him from running away, that’s what the people were doing as they were coming out of the turnstile,” Garden said. He said several people also rushed to the victim’s aid.
Cops are looking for a black man, between 25 and 30 and wearing glasses and a burgundy coat, as well as a Hispanic man, about 20 and 5-foot-8, with a black coat and braided hair.
