This gorgeous Bedford-Stuyvesant house comes with a serious pedigree, the brownstone was once home to sports icon and color-barrier-breaker Jackie Robinson, who played for the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1947 to 1956 and in the 1960s, he helped establish the Freedom National Bank, an African-American-owned financial institution based in Harlem, New York. 6sqft, which first reported the news, also confirmed with the listing’s brokers that the home was filled with baseball memorabilia when it was sold to its current owners. The house is currently listed for $2.875 million, which probably has as much to do with the home itself as it does the history of the place. The 3,420-square-foot abode is a rather stunning example of the type of brownstones that Bed-Stuy is known for: It was built at the turn of the 20th century, and many of the period details from that time—wainscoting and moldings, pressed tin ceilings, stained glass in some of the windows—remain.
Right now, the house is set up as a two-family: There’s an “owner’s triplex” that occupies the first three floors, and a two-bedroom on the top floor. It also has a decently sized, backyard.
