Borough President Gale Brewer To Hold Public Hearing On Inwood Rezoning Proposal

April 8, 2018

On Tuesday, April 10, 2018, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer will hold a public hearing on the Inwood rezoning proposal put forward by Mayor Bill de Blasio’s administration. The rezoning proposal is before Borough President Brewer for her formal recommendation as part of the city’s Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP).

The proposal affects an area of 59 blocks comprising the bulk of Manhattan’s Inwood neighborhood, creating opportunities for larger residential development in some locations and shifting some of Inwood’s industrial and commercial zones toward mixed-use and residential redevelopment.

ULURP review for the Inwood rezoning proposal began with the Dept. of City Planning’s certification of the plan on January 12. The proposal then proceeded to Community Board 12 for review and now is before Borough President Brewer, who will issue her formal recommendation by April 25. The plan will then be reviewed by the City Planning Commission, followed by the City Council.
