Obama Chooses Energy, EPA

President-elect Barack Obama intends to round out his environmental and natural resources team with a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and three former Environmental Protection Agency officials from the Clinton administration.

The president-elect has selected Steven Chu for energy secretary, Lisa Jackson for EPA administrator, Carol Browner as his energy “czar” and Nancy Sutley to lead the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Democratic officials said Wednesday.

Garden of Dreams and Adam Graves Hand Out Winter Coats

On Thursday, December 4, kids from Harlem Dowling West Side Center for Children and Family Service after school program received a warm visit from New York Ranger alumnus, Adam Graves. The former Stanley Cup champion, whose number 9 jersey was retired earlier this year, teamed up with The Garden of Dreams Foundation to hand out winter coats. The new winter jackets delivered by Drury and Staal were collected at Madison Square Garden this past November during the Rangers and Garden of Dreams Annual Coat Drive. In addition to new coats, kids also received autograph photos, New York Ranger back sacks, toys and games.

Inspired College Student Creates Non-profit Project Feed Me

Project Feed Me, a 100 percent non-profit organization founded by formerly homeless college student Patrick Alvarez, handed out 110 turkeys near The Children’s Aid Society in Harlem on Tuesday.

Grateful families began lining up at Dunlevy Milbank school on 118th street two days before Thanksgiving to pick up a turkey that means the difference between celebrating these holidays, or going hungry.

Alvarez was inspired to start the project by struggles in his own life.
