Cathy_Hughes__2_On Friday, October 14, 6:30 pm, Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival & Lecture Series will present the Reel Sisters Hattie McDaniel Award to media pioneer Cathy Hughes, founder of TV One/Radio One, and the Trailblazer Award to Naturi Naughton, award-winning actress noted for her role as Tasha St. Patrick in the hit Starz drama Power.

Reel Sisters is proud to announce that Terrie M. Williams, the author of Black Pain: It Just Looks Like We’re Not Hurting, will support our tribute media pioneerCathy Hughes and award-winning actress Naturi Naughton as the honorary chairperson of our Reel Sisters Awards ceremony. Kim Coles will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies and perform an excerpt from her one-woman show in tribute to the honorees. Vocalists Kimberly Nichole (The Voice) and Meli’sa Morgan will pay tribute to our honorees!
