rangel car in harlem1Rep. Charles Rangel is having a challenging time at home in Harlem this week: Five days after his apartment was robbed of thousands in cash and jewelry, he sideswiped a parked car just outside his building in Central Harlem on Sunday.

The 85-year-old politician was uninjured after striking the Hyundai at 5:30 p.m. near 40 W. 135 St., police said.

The vehicle sustained a broken left taillight and some minor damage to the bumper. It was still parked at the scene later in the night.

“I didn’t see it happen, but one of the doorman showed me the car,” a resident said, declining to be named. “There’s still plastic pieces all over the parking lot.”

Rangel — who is set to retire at the end of this year after spending 46 years on Capitol Hill — downplayed the minor accident when reached by The Post on Sunday evening.

Thankfully, when asked how he was doing, Rangel replied, “I’m in tip-top shape.”
