December 29, 2016

He nearly went to his own funeral.

A 33-year-old man leaving a funeral at a Harlem church was shot in the hand as he ran from a pistol-packing churchgoer Tuesday morning, police sources said.

Sean Spann told cops he had just left a funeral at the Mount Neboh Baptist Church on W. 114th St. and Seventh Ave. at about 10:40 a.m., when his assailant emerged from the church and pulled him aside, sources said.

“Yo, black, let me holla at you,” the man told Spann, sources said.

He then asked Spann, “Do you know me?” and when Spann told him no, the man punched him in the face and pulled out a gun, sources said.

Spann started running toward W. 115th St., and two shots rang out, sources said.

One of the bullets hit his right hand, and Spann kept running. He entered the Lenox Ave. train station, then took the 2 train uptown and walked into Harlem Hospital, sources said.

Cops describe the shooter as a black man in his 20s, about 5-feet-5 and weighing 160 pounds.
