The Harlem School of the Arts hosted its 50th year anniversary in the Grand Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel. The star-studded event recognized the achievement of artists, community leaders and activists while raising funds crucial to empowering young people from under-served communities in Harlem and throughout the city.The event took place on Monday, October 5th, 2015.
Gala honorees included Jessye Norman (Dorothy Maynor Award), Cicely Tyson (Betty Allen Lifetime Achievement Award), Alicia Keys and Keys’ mother Terria Joseph along with Kehinde Wiley were each presented with the Visionary Artist Award.
Steinway & Sons CEO Micheal Sweeney and the Honorable Keith L.T. Wright received the Corporate and Civic Award respectively.
