Crazy Car Fire Shuts Down FDR Drive In East Harlem

Firefighters battled a car fire on the FDR Drive that shut down multiple lanes of traffic during the Tuesday evening rush hour, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.

A vehicle burst into flames around 5:15 p.m. on the FDR Drive near East 116th Street in Harlem, an FDNY spokesman said. Firefighters operated on the scene for about an hour until the fire was put out, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.

A passerby captured a photo of the car engulfed in flames and posted it to Twitter.

New York City Emergency Management announced that all southbound lanes of the highway were closed as fire officials operated on scene.

Nobody was injured during the fire, an FDNY spokesman told Patch.
