Harlem’s Geoffrey Canada Honored At Assoc. of Children’s Museums Showcases

April 28, 2016

geoffrey-canadaA New England-style town meeting and Ultimate Block Party with Harlem’s Geoffrey Canada from Halrem Chhildrens Zone are among the highlights of the Association of Children’s Museums InterActivity 2016 conference.

The event convenes leaders from children’s museums and supporting organizations to learn about and advocate for children’s museums’ roles in closing the achievement gap, promoting kindergarten readiness, and igniting interest in STEM.

Hosted by Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk, CT, the theme for InterActivity 2016 is Collective Impact and will examine how children’s museums work within communities to solve complex educational problems. The Town Meeting will provide a forum for setting ACM’s achievement gap agenda. The Ultimate Block Party is a hands-on, community event that demonstrates how children’s museums engage and educate children and families.

ACM will present its 2016 Great Friend to Kids Award to Harlem’s Geoffrey Canada for his outstanding leadership in developing a place-based approach to educating children and rebuilding community through the Harlem Children’s Zone.
