Get Ready For The Women’s March At The Sugar Hill Children’s Museum In Harlem

The Women’s March is this Saturday, January 20th, 2018! To prepare for this celebration of women and their contributions, join us for civic-minded activities all week during Museum hours, including protest poster making, and storytelling about women and by women authors.

Interested in marching? On Saturday, January 20th, 2018, we will be coming together as a community and heading down to March. We will be meeting at the Museum at 10am. Open to all ages.

ANA MENDIETA: Thinking About Children’s Thinking

Enter conceptual Cuban artist Ana Mendieta’s world through sound art, videos and photographs, about collective and individual experiences. Guest curated by Amy Rosenblum Martín.

PARADE: Derek Fordjour

2016-2017 Artist-in-Residence Derek Fordjour takes visitors on a journey through the sense-memory of childhood and the process of forging an identity.

WOMEN’S RIGHTS IS HUMAN RIGHTS! (January 18 and 19)

Get ready for the March! Stop by and create your own protest posters and music makers to carry and shake as we head down as a community to support this year’s Women’s March.

TOPSY TURVY THURSDAYS WITH CARLETTA (January 18 only)
3:30 – 4:30pm, The Living Room
Our in-house storyteller and Sugar Hill resident Carletta Joy Walker will share stories by and about women.

VIRTUOUS JOURNEYS WITH MANDO (January 19 only)
3:30 – 4:30pm, The Living Room
Join Mando as he shares amazing stories highlighting important female figures in society. Be sure to sing along, dance and even play musical instruments!

WOMEN’S MARCH ASSEMBLY (January 20 only)
10am, Museum Lobby
Join us as we come together as a community at 10am and head down to support this year’s Women’s March. Bring your posters and music makers – all are welcome!

Family Collaborative Mural (January 20 only)
10am – 5pm, Studio Labs 
Let’s come together in the spirit of unity and create a collaborative mural honoring our mothers, sisters, aunts, and other important female figures in our life.
