Few teams overhauled things like the Giants have this offseason, meaning they have plenty of work to do.
The good news is, they have a lot of willing participants.
According to Jordan Raanan of NJ.com, Giants quarterback Eli Manning said every offensive player was on hand last week as they began their offseason conditioning.
“I’m not quite sure the numbers on what the percentage of participation is, but I feel it is very high. All the offensive guys are there,” Manning said. “We have a lot of work to do learning the new offense. We have a lot of new players also. I’m trying to put a lot of faces with names and getting to know your teammates on a personal side. I thought we had a good first week.”
Manning needs the help, trying to fix an offense that the owner labeled “broken,” with a number of new parts. The most significant change is new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo, who can now work with Manning (though he might miss part of OTAs after ankle surgery).
“We got a lot of information, learned a lot asking a lot of questions about the offense,” Manning said. “We made some strides, just got to keep working. . . .
“[The changes] bring a sense of urgency to this time of year, to the offseason. For me, [it’s] getting healthy, meeting teammates and learning a new playbook. We have a lot of work to do. But [I’m] enjoying the competition of it all, the urgency we’re having right now.”
That urgency has apparently compelled the entire offense to volunteer to show up, as well (source).
