December 10, 2016

natalie-glo-vasquez1NY Daily News reports that a gunman fatally shot a 24-year-old mother of two in the head inside a Harlem apartment building early Friday, cops said.

Natalie (Glo) Vasquez was blasted inside her apartment at the King Tower Houses on Fifth Ave. near W. 114th St. about 2 a.m., officials said. She died at the scene.

“(Vasquez) was wonderful,” …. “(She) just cooked a whole Thanksgiving dinner in her house for her neighbors.”

“(Vasquez) was wonderful,” one neighbor, who declined to give her name, said of the doomed mom. “(She) just cooked a whole Thanksgiving dinner in her house for her neighbors.”

Vasquez was shot as two men inside the apartment argued, police sources said.

“Why did you do that for?” one of the men was heard saying by neighbors after a shot rang out.

Vasquez’s roommate told police and neighbors he had just gone outside for a smoke and was walking back to the apartment when he heard a shot. Police are investigating his account.

Police took the roommate and a woman to the 28th Precinct stationhouse for questioning, officials said.

Neighbors said Vasquez had lost custody of her children, who would often visit.

She had been fighting with her boyfriend the night before she was killed, according to neighbor Peter Castro.

“No, don’t go, but I love you,” Castro, 62, remembered hearing Vasquez scream.

Her roommate couldn’t handle news of Vasquez’s death, Castro said.

“He was sobbing badly,” Castro said.

Vasquez moved in after her roommate’s grandmother died and the pad became disheveled, Castro said. She decorated the apartment with red curtains, kept it clean, and made sure there was food in the fridge.

“She was a good person, Castro said. “If it wasn’t for her, it would be a pigsty.”
