Hamilton’s Renée Elise Goldsberry Honored In Harlem

October 2, 2017

Playbill announces that Renée Elise Goldsberry, a Tony winner for her performance in the musical phenomenon Hamilton, will receive the Visionary Artist Award at the Harlem School of the Arts’ Fall Gala.

The Masquerade Ball & After Party, which will be held October 23, 2017, at the Plaza Hotel’s Grand Ballroom, will also honor Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and philanthropist Mary J. Blige (Dorothy Maynor Award), BET Chairman and CEO Debra L. Lee (Betty Allen Corporate Award), and Dancing With the Stars musical director Ray Chew (Inaugural Alumni Award).

The evening will be hosted by The View‘s Sunny Hostin.

“I’m proud of HSA’s renewed vitality during these past seven years and the Gala marks a special time to celebrate HSA’s accomplishments of those being honored while raising vital support to continue providing students with the transformational access to the arts for which it is known,” said HSA Chairman, Charles J. Hamilton, Jr. Esq., in a statement.

HSA is known as the starting ground for many theatre, film, and television personalities. Funds raised by the Gala enable the Harlem School of the Arts to provide over 2,000 students access to arts instruction and professional development, including financial aid to families from disadvantaged communities and merit scholarships to students pursuing careers in the arts.
