Next week, City Council Member Mark Levine will join New York City Deputy Mayor Richard Buery on a tour of the pre-k program at PS 153 in West Harlem. The visit will highlight the upcoming March 4th, 2016 deadline to enroll kids born in 2012 in a pre-k program beginning in the fall of 2016. All applications received by the March 4 deadline are treated the same and not on a first come first serve basis.
PS 153’s Pre-K for All is an example of a program that supports the needs of all pre-K children by building a school community and positive classroom culture centered on family collaboration and community partnership in student learning. Now in its second year, free, full-day, high-quality pre-k serves more than 68,500 4-year-olds citywide — up from about 50,000 at the start of the last school-year and 20,000 the year before the program launched.
