Harlem Joe Budden Comments On Meek Mill

July 9, 2015

Joe-Budden-2012Things between Harlem man Joe Budden and Meek Mill have been a little bit uncomfortable ever since the Slaughterhouse MC addressed Meek and Nicki’s relationship on his “I’ll Name This Podcast Later.”

After Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill performed at the BET Awards, Budden passed judgment on his podcast the next day.

“Let me explain something really quickly…you half-heartedly speak on things that might be a hot topic,” he said in an interview with Hot 97’s E-Bro and Peter Rosenberg. “So we joked about it on the podcast, but once the blogs got ahold of that, they wrote it out in the transcript and when you read it, you take that as a serious sentiment.”

Budden says that after watching the couple perform at the BET Awards, he thought it was funny. “The camera guy just showed a lot of shots of Meek blissfully smiling in love. I thought it was interesting.”

The interview with the Hot 97 morning show comes just days after both Meek and Nicki responded to Joe on Twitter. “Jealousy Jealousy that’s how u feel? Lol. #podcast,” wrote Nicki. “Why would you be bothered by another man showing love to his girl? Let’s celebrate Black love. All the best with ur podcast. All jokes aside.”

Meek’s response was not as kind as Nicki’s. “joking but it ain’t dat boy level to b commenting on the way I handle my lady! Y’all gotta have a chill button when you speaking on da trill,” said Meek.

In interviews and on Twitter, Budden has implied that Meek is not on his level when it comes to rapping. “I rap with Slaughterhouse and we rap with Eminem,” he said (source).
