Harlem Rep Adriano Espaillat Recognizes Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month

June 3, 2017

Congressman Adriano Espaillat issued the following statement in recognition of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness month.

“Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s related dementia impact an estimated 5.5 million Americans of all ages. Every 66 seconds, someone develops Alzheimer’s dementia and by 2050 that rate will increase to every 33 seconds. Alzheimer’s and brain diseases may not present obvious ailments, but the diminished quality of life is apparent and heart-breaking for its victims and their loved ones,” said Rep. Espaillat.

“During Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness month, let’s highlight the importance of early diagnosis and the need to increase our literacy and awareness about this disease and its impact. As a member of Congress, I will continue my work in support of the ongoing and future research efforts on behalf of the caregivers and of those living with Alzheimer’s disease. Join me during the month of June 2017, to learn more about this disease and be vigilant with our friends, family and loved ones until we defeat this disease once and for all.”
