Harlem Robber Borrows Phone Before Pulling Knife

The NYPD is trying to identify a thief who took advantage of two young people’s generosity in Harlem before robbing them at knifepoint.

The suspect robbed two people at knifepoint in two different subway stations within 30 minutes on Saturday, police told Patch.

The first robbery occurred on the platform of the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue subway station on Saturday, police said. The suspect approached a 16-year-old boy at 5:25 p.m., asked to borrow his cellphone and then flashed a knife when the boy asked for his phones back.

The suspect then fled the area and entered the subway station at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue, police said. Once inside, the man approached an 11-year-old girl and repeated the same robbery scheme, police told source.

Neither robbery victim suffered any physical injuries, police said.

The suspect was wearing a black sweatshirt and blue pants, police said. Police believe the suspect is between 16 and 18 years old.
