“SOUL NATIVITY is a really special show, and I feel like everyone that has participated in in through the years, both uptown and downtown, have invented this version. I also feel like this theatre here on St. Nicholas Avenue is its best and true home, states HSA’s Artistic Director Alfred Preisser. “Since we always consider it as happening “today” it always feels new and connected to what’s happening in the world at this very moment; since we’re telling a beloved and iconic story, it feels both timeless and familiar. It’s an homage to hope and joy, and obviously our world needs as much of that as we can possibly muster.”

“Otis Sallid’s mentorship and direction with this year’s SOUL NATIVITY extends our mission to expose students to pioneering artists and legends in their field.” Preisser adds, “Sallid is teaching our student technique, discipline and performance – that is a master class in itself ”

Mr. Sallid stated, “It is such a pleasure being back in Harlem working with so many young people in the community. A true joy to work in such a special show.”
