Come and hear these illustrious Harlem authors in three genres: children’s literature, fiction, and poetry.

Come and taste delicious home made treats created by healthy eating advocate, CC Minton, and Harlem World food critic, Miss Lil. Delicacies of the day will include gluten-free non-gmo granola, pumpkin bread, apple bread and sweet potato bread, and hot apple cider.

About The Authors

CC Minton, author of Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie:

CC Minton is the the author of Daddy’s Greek Potato Pie (a book about healthy eating). As contributing editor to Harlem World Magazine, she writes a section called “Up Close with CC Minton” where she recently took readers inside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House Kids State Dinner. Also featured are some of the hottest New York City chefs, Olympians, celebrities, and mouth-watering fundraising events in The Big Apple.

A sports fan at heart, CC tackled big business in 2014 and it was more than she ever thought she could chew on. She and her team provided bits and bytes at the Official NY/NJ Super Bowl VIP Tailgate Party.

CC is the recipient of the 2014 President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition Community Leadership Award.

Her philanthropic endeavors are the meat and potatoes of the business that she does as a social entrepreneur. They have included project chair for the Junior League’s Health and Nutrition Initiative, serving as a guest panelist with the Jack and Jill of America Foundation: Childhood Obesity Forum, being named “Advocate of the Month” by Let’s Move/President’s Challenge for her work with the Boys and Girls Club of America, and hosting a walk/talk event in honor of “America on the Move Week.” –http://www.ccminton.com/

Eartha Watts Hicks, author of Love Changes:

Eartha Watts-Hicks is the author and publisher of LOVE CHANGES and founder of Earthatone Books, an imprint of Earthatone Enterprises, LLC. She leads self-publishing, writing, and publicity workshops for the New York Public Library, New York City Parks Department, the National Writers Union, Project Enterprise, and other not-for-profits. A freelance PR and article writer, she is an affiliate of BlackPR(dot)com and a contributor to Harlem World Magazine. A writing fellow of the Hurston-Wright Foundation, the Center for Black Literature and the North Country Institute, Eartha is also a member of the acclaimed Harlem Writers Guild. In June of 2013, Eartha Watts-Hicks received the Just R.E.A.D. Award in fiction from the NYCHA branch of the NAACP and was named a 2013 NAACP New York City ambassador for literacy. JP Howard, author of SAY/MIRROR:

JP Howard aka Juliet P. Howard is a NY-based poet and Cave Canem graduate fellow. She is the author of SAY/MIRROR, a debut poetry collection published by The Operating System (2015) and a chaplet “bury your love poems here” (Belladonna Collaborative*, 2015). JP curates and nurtures Women Writers in Bloom Poetry Salon and Blog (WWBPS), a forum offering women writers at all levels a venue to come together in a positive and supportive space. WWBPS hosts monthly literary Salons throughout NY. JP is an Alum of the VONA/Voices Workshop. She is a Lambda Literary Foundation Emerging LGBT Voices Fellow, as well as a Cave Canem Fellow in Residence at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. She was a finalist in The Feminist Wire’s 2014 1st Poetry Contest and in the poetry category for the Lesbian Writer’s Fund of Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice. Emcee: Dontré L. Conerly, Harlem World Contributor

Dontré Conerly is a freelance multimedia journalist with over a decade of experience. A veritable “man about town,” he has reported societal goings-on for many publications, including World Bride Magazine and Harlem World Magazine, for whom he is the Senior Writer in News & Culture.  As the News & Culture Editor for BLEU Magazine, Dontré authored an online column, titled, Entre Nous, where he offered commentary and critique of social and political zeitgeist. His writings have also appeared in Metro and amNY, two of New York City’s most widely-read daily newspapers. Taking his talents to television, Dontré appeared as one of the hosts of BKLIVE! the flagship news broadcast on Brooklyn Independent Media. Conerly received his Masters from the prestigious Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, and a Bachelor of Communications from New York University. A native of New Orleans, LA, he currently resides in historic Harlem, NY.
