Harlem World’s HW Lounge Preview At Nectar

November 4, 2010

Earlier this month Harlem World (HW) Lounge had its preview event at Nectar Wine Bar at 2235 Frederick Douglass Blvd. The HW Lounge is a new brand experience by Harlem World Magazine where HW content comes to life. Starting in Spring 2011 HW Lounge will bring to life the best talent covered in our editorial – to include listening parties, comedy and spoken word events, film, and book readings and signings at venues around Harlem.

Once inside guests were met with the first of two of the evenings meet and greet opportunities, along with the delicious scent of hors d’oeuvre in the air, as bartender Nigel gently nudged us to make our choice of complimentary white or red wines. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere gave guests the option of intimate conversations or larger group discussions with friends.

The soft lit space at Nectar Wine Bar had a nice vibe, while local DJ Ill played inside. The event featured a raffle that included two donated tickets from the Uptown Dance Academy, to the Apollo Theater‘s 15th Annual Black Nutcracker Ballet.

HW content came to life with a special musical performance by Harlem-based spoken word rap artist Malachi Rivers (above). Malachi performed his new single from his Spring 2011 forthcoming CD.

BET.com host Sakina Spruell-Cole (above) from the show Keeping it Rich with Sakina was on hand to share an exclusive video segment featuring actor Malik Yoba. Spruell-Cole discussed the show’s theme and the importance of responsible personal financing with the audience.

HW Senior Arts & Culture writer and veteran Dance Choreographer, Walter Rutledge (above right) hosted the nights raffle give-a-ways, that included a bottle of wine and Apollo tickets worth $130. Madelyn Stokely (above center) was one of our raffle winners!

An important part of theme of the HW Lounge event is it’s commitment to Harlem partnerships. The HW Lounge preview event was produced by Harlem World Magazine (CEO and Founder, Daniel Tisdale pictured far left); Precision Plus (owner Rochelle Hill, second from the left); in a partnership with Sakina Spruell- Cole (owner of Cole Productions, second from the right); and Nectar Wine Bar (owner Jai Jai Greenfield pictured far right); and partners not pictured Nizer L. Saunders, CEO, Harlem Talk Radio; Robin Williams, Director, Uptown Dance Academy of Harlem, along with team members Anthony Harris, Precision Plus and Cassandra Miller , Harlem World Magazine.
