Harlem’s Congressman Adriano Espaillat Celebrates National Small Business Week

May 6, 2017

This week, as the nation pays homage to small businesses and entrepreneurship with National Small Business Week, Harlem Rep. Adriano Espaillat joined fellow members of Congress in honoring the vital role that small businesses play in New York’s 13th congressional district and throughout the American economy.

“Today I am proud to stand with small businesses in my district as we recognize their numerous contributions to our neighborhoods, cities and nation,” said Rep. Espaillat (NY-13). “Entrepreneurship has always been the cornerstone of our economy and, as the key drivers of economic growth in our communities, small businesses are vital for American prosperity.

“America’s small businesses are as diverse as its citizens, and they work hard to promote industry and create new jobs in our communities. In every large city to every rural town, from the neighborhood family-owned grocery store to cutting-edge tech startups, small businesses not only drive growth, but also touch every facet of American life.

“I will always work to ensure small businesses are given the necessary tools they need in order to succeed. This includes helping unlock capital markets, ensuring a level playing field in government contracting and making wise investments in the counseling and technical assistance programs that benefit entrepreneurs.

“While we highlight the achievements of small businesses this week, we recommit to supporting them throughout the year and reaffirm our support for their success, which builds local economies, drives innovation, and shapes the communities in which they serve.”
