Hip Hop Hall Of Fame Heads To Harlem

June 6, 2017

The Hip Hop Hall of Fame and Museum announced Tuesday that it has picked a site on 125th Street in Harlem for its proposed building.

The group also launched a campaign to raise $150 million to complete the purchase and open the first phase of its development by February 2018.

The Hip Hop Hall of Fame was established in 1992 by J.T. Thompson, who created and executive produced the HHHOF Awards show on BET in the 1990s.

The museum is modeled after the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland and developers said they’re hoping to include a cafe, gallery and visitors bureau along with a gift shop, event space, multimedia studio and a home for the HHHOF Arts & Media Youth Academy.
