HW Pick: Arcade Fire And Preservation Hall Jazz Band Close Out Panorama Night 1

July 24, 2016

panorama1As the headliners for the first day (ever!) of Panorama, Arcade Fire gave a performance that will be remembered as once in a lifetime by most fans – it was a tribute, an artist collaboration, and a singalong with the crowd all at once. Much has been made of their encore last night and Panorama has released video of the moment (link at bottom).

As Rolling Stone explained, “the group and guests the Preservation Hall Jazz Band teamed up for a second line tribute to David Bowie similar to the one they staged in New Orleans soon after the music icon’s January death.”

Panorama is a “modern day World’s Fair,” presented by Goldenvoice, that offers music performances, technology-inspired art installations and food. Yesterday’s lineup also featured Alabama Shakes, Major Lazer, FKA Twigs, and a guest-laden set by DJ Khaled who brought out fellow rappers T.I., Fat Joe, and Remy Ma throughout his set.

Tonight, Kendrick Lamar will headline the main stage, and The National, Blood Orange, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, and more will also perform.

Guests can beat the heat at air conditioned spaces like THE LAB, the Despacio Tent, and The Parlor Stage. Breezy, shaded areas (including The Pavilion Stage) and a misting canopy on the main lawn kept the sun off while fans helped themselves at the free water refill stations throughout the grounds.

Tickets for Saturday and Sunday are available at the Panorama Box Office.
