July 23, 2016

Lisa-LisaThis year’s Freestyle Take Over will feature Lisa Lisa, George LaMond, Lisette Melendez, Judy Torres and many others. Lisa Lisa and her band Cult Jam are an American contemporary band and one of the first freestyle music groups to emerge from New York City in the 1980s. She released her latest album, Life ‘n Love, in 2009 which features a single “Can’t Wait” with guest rapper Pitbull. Freestyle Take Over will also feature George LaMond, an American freestyle music and salsa music singer. He has released seven albums between 1989-2014, best known for his 1989 #25 Billboard debut, “Bad of the Heart” and his #1 salsa smash, “Que Te Vas.” He also had a 2008 Top 5 radio hit, “Don’t Stop Believing.”

The night will also feature a performance by Lisette Melendez. An American freestyle, Latin pop, dance-pop singer, Lisette Melendez is best known for her 1991 hits “Together Forever,” #35 at the Billboard Hot 100 and “A Day in My Life (Without You).” Both songs were such big dance music hits that they are credited as helping renew interest in Freestyle music in the early 90s, which had been fading in popularity. Judy Torres is a Puerto Rican freestyle music artist and a dance-pop singer. Her latest release came in 2008 with the single “Hell, No”, an anthem for abused women.
