HW Pick: Harlem Fave Spike Lee’s Michael Jackson Block Party Returns

August 23, 2016

spike lee enhanced1Harlem loves a good party, even if its in Brooklyn (just kidding), but nearly 30 years after “Do The Right Thing,” Spike Lee is still throwing the best block parties in Bed-Stuy.

If you missed the all-purple Prince birthday party he hosted last spring, the next most fabulous thing is slated for the end of August 2016.

Lee will be hosting his sixth annual “Brooklyn Loves Michael Jackson” block party on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Stuyvesant Avenue between Lexington Avenue and Quincy Street — the intersection also known as “Do the Right Thing Way.”. Sway is scheduled to co-host, and DJ Spinna will be playing the MJ.

Like many of Lee’s shindigs, the Aug. 27 event is free and open to the public — No RSVP necessary. Just like a Bed-Stuy block party should be.

Not only a world famous movie director, Spike Lee is also the man behind Michael’s 1996 short film ‘They Don’t Care About Us’ and the director of two Michael documentaries ‘Bad 25’ and ‘Michael Jackson’s Journey From Motown To Off The Wall.’
